ON HER PATH TO DESTINY. True life story

Her heart raced as she clutched her bag closer to her side while looking left and right, she increased her pace. She checked her wristwatch, it was few minutes past 1a.m and she was still on the streets of Lagos. 'How come?' was a question that seemed to be irrelevant at that hour. She shivered with cold because the drizzles had gotten heavier and she still had about 30 minutes walk to her destination, her uncle's house. Her phones were off and she couldn't reach him at least to tell him to come pick her.
Different scenarios of stories she had heard about girls that had been abused and molested at night, but she knew she couldn't stop going even though she wasn't sure of what lies in wait for her, though, she was sure she wasn't alone, God must know about this late journey. Drenched in the rain, she kept moving knowing fully well that she had to get to get destination anyhow that night. No stopping, no slowing.
As she drew nearer, she saw traces of light, she wasn't sure it wasn't fire, her heart began to beat fast, since stopping was not an option, she kept moving. As she moved closer, she saw clearly that it was fire from a suya joint. 'Suya, by this time of the night, hm, who buys them?' she thought to herself but then she realised she was really hungry, so she decided to get some for herself. 'Oga, I no get #100, na #50 I get, abeg sell for me', 'nagode oga (thank you oga)' She wrapped up the suya paper and threw it away (not minding the 'keep lagos clean' After all, it's night), satisfied to an extent, 'Thank God!' she muttered.
She checked her time again, it was almost 2a.m and she was now closer to her destination, her heart skipped for joy. The loud music and noise from a club across the street gave her mixed feelings, so she hastened her steps until she had moved a distance from the bar...
