What Do You Have?

Image
Exodus 4:1-2 2.  And the Lord said unto him (Moses) , ' What is that in thine hand ?' And he said, 'A rod'. 2Kings 4:1-2 Elisha asked the window, “ Tell me, what do you have in the house ?” “Nothing at all, except a small jar of olive oil,” she replied. Sometimes, we don't know how great that 'small' substance we have is until we put it to use. Moses' rod might have looked ordinary, but it did wondrous things (parted the red sea, brought forth water from a rock, turned into a serpent, was a mighty instrument during the plagues) Remember the widow with a 'small' jar of oil, I am very sure she didn't know that her 'small' jar of oil could fill several bigger jars until there were no more jars. The gift that seemed to be the source of Joseph's predicaments was the same that brought him out of prison and in turn made him the prime minister. The moral here is that you might not know how great the gift of God might t...

TO THESE LOVELY PEOPLE, THE A-TEAM, I LOVE YOU

Image
Life is in phases People are in colours We meet and then part ways Some are meant to be together Some, to part ways I never realized how spending About 750 hours of my life with you Could be of so much impact I can only wish we would stay together forever But life's roles have to be played out At this phase of my life, I met you all, and now, Some of you, I'll leave Some memories are never fading No, not with me As we journey through life And we become part of other families We will come to realise that our presence In these different families will make those Families intertwine To some of you, I got the chance to say these words, To others, I didn't But, to all of you, I mean them These words that will never change Now, if this is the only chance I have, I'll say I LOVE YOU To the A-TEAM, The team that strove to make it through The team that remained unified Even to the very end I am honoured ...

INTIMACY WITH GOD USING THE 5 LOVE LANGUAGES

It is always such a blessing to sit under the ministration of one my mentors (some of my friends must have heard me talk about her) Pastor Damilola Otolorin. Last Sunday was really great as she preached on 'Intimacy With God' and she explained how we can use the Five Love Languages to build a very intimate relationship with God. I'll just share my little understanding of the message.     Intimacy is a close, familiar, personal, usually affectionate relationship with a deep knowledge or understanding with an entity.     God created us in His image and that explains why the love languages are also applicable to getting intimate with God. In no particular order, here are the 5 love languages and a little bit on how to use them to get closer to God. 1. QUALITY TIME : How much time do you spend fellowshipping with God? Is it just the daily routine morning and sometimes, evening prayers? Is it just on Sundays at church? Why not spend more ti...

BEAUTY FOR ASHES - 1      There has been a lot of talks, quotes, seminars, admonishments on self love, self confidence, embracing of skin colour, shape, size, and personality. Yet, some people still cannot relate to all of these. Now, this could be because of a lot of events such as bad past experiences, sexual abuse, habits, skin faults, lack of love from people that matter to them, scars, physical deformity, or just lack of contentment.           It seems easy for someone to teach or preach all the self love, acceptance and high self esteem thing and yet another still can't relate to them, I know because I have been there.           Of course I knew the importance of having a high self  esteem and all but I couldn't practice all that I heard and had been taught about it, because for some time in my life, I didn't like myself, I felt that I was just one unhealthy looking, thin and very smallish girl and th...

A LETTER TO JHUMMIE FROM JHUMMIEOOZ...

Image
Dear Jhummie,     I love you so much and I want the very best for you that is why I have decided to write this letter to you.        Do you know that a man can be 'LOOKING' handsome, godly, and gorgeous BUT has been rejected by God. Eliab was handsome, had the appearance of a king, but was rejected by God. 1 Sam. 16:6-7.      My dear, don't settle for him who has just the appearance of a king but wait for your rightful king, the chosen one, to come. He will be just like David. 1 Samuel 16:12 (NIV) says; '... He (David) was glowing with health, and had a fine appearance and handsome features...' (NLT)  '... He was dark and handsome with beautiful eyes...' and then he was anointed and chosen by God himself... OMG! now that's the kind of man I'm talking about, the kind of man I want you to pray for, wait for, prepare for, the kind made for a QUEEN like you. But, you have to remain a queen to get a king like him.     ...

WHEN I RISE... Culled from 'Secrets of An Irresistible Woman'

Image
When I rise, full of love for life and laughter, and the me that I am, Love will meet me... When I rise, above my own neediness fears and frustrated tears, and allow myself to be warmed by the Son, Love will shine on me... When I rise, past prayerlessness, desperate hopes, sleepless nights and wondering why I'm alone, Love will wrap me in its arms... When I rise, beyond sacrificing who I am, mistreating my heart and giving my affections too freely to the ungrateful... When I rise, above accepting scraps when I crave for a whole slice of cake,  reaching for carrots that are merely mirages of together forever,  accepting another's rejection as validation of my undesirability... When I rise, oh when I rise. When I rise above it all, my wings will carry me to a place called faith and deliverance, a place where the lies whispered in the dark must flee in the face of such intense light. For this is the place where God is and love dwells, ...

MEET THE FIRST MISS NIGERIA ; CHIEF MRS. GRACE OYELUDE

Image
Mrs. Grace Tinuke Oyelude was the first Miss Nigeria, 1957. From the story of the 84-year old ex-beauty queen, the Miss Nigeria beauty pageant has gone through an evolution.          She said, 'I was living in Kano then and like I always said, I have always been repeating the same thing. My brother saw the advertisement in the newspapers and advised me to go to Lagos for an interview to be selected as a Miss Nigeria contestant. He applied, and the result was that I was supposed to be in Lagos for the Miss Nigeria contest and I was working in the UAC then, and they also were involved in the pageant. The following day they got me on a plane to Lagos and that was it.       We arrived in Lagos, there was no accommodation, so we all had to look for our accommodation, we were later asked to come to the Daily Times office after, so we all met, about 200 of us. I was the only one from Kano. After the interview and...

I'm not in a very good position to give relationships advice. But, during one of my reflection times some days back, I realized by the Spirit of God, how much power of choice we have as females when it comes to whom we give our heart to, who we get to marry, who we get to give the chance of a date with us.      The question is; If we have this power, why then do we still make choices we later regret. The truth is that, some of these mistakes, or factors causing these mistakes can be avoided through several ways of which the most important is seeking the heart desire of the creator of man himself. He sees and knows what we don't, he knows the end from the beginning, and the beginning from the end.       Therefore, one of the most important things is to seek the will of God, which will guide you in choosing rightly.       In case you didn't know, your relationships can make you a more beautiful and complete woman or o...

THE BIRTH OF O.O.Z.

Image
It all started with my desire to be beautiful at a very young age, my desire to be a model, a beauty queen. I worked daily on myself by taking very good care of my hair, skin, nails, face… making good use of all the natural stuff I could get around (Aloe Vera was one plant that I could really access).    I began to do a follow up on a lot of beautiful people and looked up to them as role models while working on being one myself.       However, as time went on, I began to realize that I hadn’t grown as tall as I ‘needed’ to be. So, gradually, I began to feel bad about how I looked and that really affected my self esteem   and I began to give up on myself, but, that didn’t change my admiration for a lot of other beautiful people around me.        There happened to be a friend of mine I really admire and respect a lot, she is a lady of great faith and during one of...

ONE DESIGNER THAT INSPIRES ME IS NOUVA COUTURE

Image
There are a lot of reasons why I follow some designers on social media amongst which are; to get updated on trends, to get inspiration and motivation as an aspiring designer, also for mentorship.  One amazing designer I follow is the C.E.O of NOUVA COUTURE, Bolaji Chizoba Ayinde. She started from sewing clothes in her hostel, to running an apparel production facility in Lagos with nine dedicated staff, CEO of Nouva Couture, Bolaji C. Ayinde, lives her life by design. I will be talking on her designs which inspire me so much.     I appreciate the DECENCY of her designs. I love decency. The designs are beautiful and very decent.  Another thing I love about her designs is her CUT. Her cut makes the dresses suit the body shape of whoever is wearing them.  Colour is a very vital aspect of fashion and style, the COLOURS accentuates the skin colour, her pick of colours is sweet. Her designs are very very stylish and that is why they look...

ON HER PATH TO DESTINY 2

Image
... She smiled as she had gotten few steps away from the gate, she took out her phones, both batteries were flat, she got a little bit disappointed but after all she could knock on the gate... She knocked and knocked endlessly, there was no response. Then,  she began to fear that the sound from the persistent knocks might get the attention of the watchmen around and that might lead to another unwanted scenario.        Tears flowed from her eyes as she hoped that God would make someone hear her. She decided to knock again but this time, for the last time, she decided that if she didn't get a response this time around, she would just sleep in one of the stalls around.  *knock, knock, knock!!!* lo, there was a response and from her uncle, thank God! She sighed.         Gosh!  She had just realized she had just two hours to the time she had to prepare to go get what she had come for, she quickly sipped the hot tea and prepared to ...

ON HER PATH TO DESTINY. True life story

Image
Her heart raced as she clutched her bag closer to her side while looking left and right, she increased her pace. She checked her wristwatch, it was few minutes past 1a.m and she was still on the streets of Lagos. 'How come?' was a question that seemed to be irrelevant at that hour. She shivered with cold because the drizzles had gotten heavier and she still had about 30 minutes walk to her destination, her uncle's house. Her phones were off and she couldn't reach him at least to tell him to come pick her.         Different scenarios of stories she had heard about girls that had been abused and molested at night, but she knew she couldn't stop going even though she wasn't sure of what lies in wait for her, though, she was sure she wasn't alone, God must know about this late journey. Drenched in the rain, she kept moving...
