BE LIKE ALEX!

ALEX cares so be like ALEX!

Alex is an African grey parrot in my compound. Often times, in my room, I would overhear Alex talk and I would look forward to not only overhearing it talk but to actually see and hear it talk to me. So, every time I passed by it, I would always make some friendly gestures, say a hello or just smile at it and every time I got disappointed. My hopes of it talking to me began to fade until one day...

I was so lost in my thoughts and my spirit was somewhat down, I walked briskly past Alex oblivious of its presence, suddenly I heard 'How are you?'. I looked around but didn't see anyone except Alex the parrot who I had just noticed. Oh!it just spoke to me! I exclaimed, I could hardly curtail the excitement in me. After some seconds of some expressive excitement, I realized I had not even answered the question. 'Oh Alex, I'm fine', I said smiling as I bent towards it , 'I'm actually not, I wish I could tell you about the things on my mind but I'll be fine now that you've asked', I said again smiling...

That little encounter with Alex was heartfelt for me and even till today,I feel heartened every time I remember that Alex actually asked how I was.

The mystery of the parrot talking is only for God to unravel and that's why God remains incomparable.

Come to think of it, if the parrot cares, then God's care is undisputable.

My experience with Alex taught me to care about everyone around me even in  littlest forms such as asking a simple question as 'How are you?' Care about the people in your life, your neighbors, your colleagues, your surbodinates, superiors, the young, the old, that person you see everyday and to as many as you can show some form of care to. Some times,even that person you think should be doing fine needs someone to ask if he/she is really fine.

Alex cares, you too should!

PS : Alex asked for my name today! It said 'What's your name?'

      I'm not in a very good position to give relationships advice. But, during one of my reflection times some days back, I realized by the Spirit of God, how much power of choice we have as females when it comes to whom we give our heart to, who we get to marry, who we get to give the chance of a date with us.      The question is; If we have this power, why then do we still make choices we later regret. The truth is that, some of these mistakes, or factors causing these mistakes can be avoided through several ways of which the most important is seeking the heart desire of the creator of man himself. He sees and knows what we don't, he knows the end from the beginning, and the beginning from the end.       Therefore, one of the most important things is to seek the will of God, which will guide you in choosing rightly.       In case you didn't know, your relationships can make you a more beautiful and complete woman or otherwise.
