31-12-2015, THANKSGIVING DAY.

Image
It's indeed been a wonderful year, mistakes made, lessons learnt, for me, nothing broken, nothing missing. Thanks to God for all of that.       I had it planned to dedicate this day giving thanks. Giving thanks to God, my immediate family, friends, loved ones and of course,  to YOU.       You all have made my year, I'm better than I started, with God, with you and a whole lot of others.       Really don't have a lot to say because I am so overwhelmed with appreciation that all I can think of saying right now is THANK YOU!      But, from a whole lot of things I've learnt this year, I'll just share a few key lessons and personal words to run with in the year 2016.    1. Live my life centered on God.  2. Be more dedicated to ALL that I HAVE TO do.  3. Live everyday with a heart of gratitude.  4. Look good ALWAYS.  5. Prayerfully make decisions.           Are there lessons you have learnt and you want others to learn from you? I will be glad if you share with m

Fashion ~ HATS ARE SOOO COOL!

Image
HATS are really nice pieces, they bring a kind of unique statement to your appearance amongst many other purposes they serve.  Hats are head coverings which are worn for various reasons, including protection against the elements, ceremonial reasons, religious reasons, safety, or as a fashion accessory.  Hats have been common throughout the history of humanity and they come in different designs and shapes; Adventure Hat, Akubra, Boater, Boss of the plains, Fedora, Panama amongst a host of others.  For that chicky, churchy, cool, gorgeous,  classy, happening look, try topping it up with a HAT.

EVEN THE VULTURE IS BEAUTIFUL...

Image
The beauty of creation is the variation in creation. No two or more things considered beautiful are exactly the same. The rose flower is beautiful, so is the sunflower. The eagle is beautiful bird, so is the dove, even the peacock. Agbani Darego is beautiful, so is my mother.     The God of creation has created everything uniquely beautiful. When He created all things, He saw that they were all good and perfect. So, EVEN THE VULTURE IS BEAUTIFUL.      I might not be as tall or short as you are, my hair may not even be as long, full, or dark as yours, I might not be as light or dark as you are, I might not look as curvy or straight as you are, I might not even have straight legs like you do. I might not have a perfect or healthy skin as you've got. But I tell you, I am as beautiful as you are.       I will never be ashamed of my height, colour or shape, because, even the vulture is beautiful!  ~ JhummieOOZ

LET'S GO GREEN AND WHITE

Image
Yea! It's still the INDEPENDENCE month, the GREEN-WHITE-GREEN month, thank God for sparing our lives. So, let's go green or green and white.     Until I found out, I never knew that the green and white colours are perfect match. For your fashion wears and accessories, even decor, you can never go wrong with the green and white. It makes me proud that Nigeria has such a great colour mix.    You really should try out a green and white combo while still in the INDEPENDENCE month...

ACT LIKE A LADY THINK LIKE A MAN ~ Book review

Image
Yeyyy! This is my first book review. I love and read books, not because I had the chance of being a literature student, I was never one, but because I just want to 'know'. I've come across a lot of book (a lot of us have) but I will only be sharing my view on a few of them. I will select books I think will help people address their problems or help them deal with the world full of people with problems. I will also review books which everybody else thinks are useful or helpful.   I read the first book on my list after I saw the movie 'Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man', so you can guess the title of the book.  Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man addresses what men really think about love, relationship, intimacy and commitment from a Steve Harvey's view. Steve Harvey talked extensively on how 'men' think and he answered a lot of the common questions inspired by the many acts that seem to be confusing from men.    Of course, no man has a perfect view on

MEN IN YELLOW

Image
Yellow used to be an uncommon colour but since 2013 up until now, it has been a celebrated colour in fashion for the ladies. For the men, yellow might not really seen as their colour because of what the color itself seem to depict...      Yellow is the color of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Bright, pure yellow is an attention getter, which is the reason taxicabs are painted this color. When overused, yellow may have a disturbing effect; it is known that babies cry more in yellow rooms. Yellow indicates honor and loyalty.  Use yellow to evoke pleasant, cheerful feelings. Yellow is very effective for attracting attention, so use it to highlight the most important elements of your design.    Hmmmm, a "real man" will wear any color that looks acceptable on him because he is secure in hims

THE STORY OF AN ACNE SURVIVOR...

Image
I have discovered that whatever happens on the inside reflects on the outside (of the body)... I decided to share the testimony of an unknown survivor of acne because his story has a lot on emotions and acne...   I remember when I had really bad acne that I would always get sad and depressed about my acne and get mad when I saw my skin in the mirror.   Every morning when I woke up I would look in the mirror and be mad that my acne wasn't getting better. Over the last few years i've researched and read A LOT! and learned that your emotions (sadness/happiness etc.) actually cause changes in your skin believe it or not. It's linked to stress, when you have negative emotions such as depression, anger or sadness it causes more stress on the body causing the organs and internal functions to not work as well and operate as efficiently as they normally do. When I learned this I believe it because I've had points in my life when I feel really good and I have mor

WHAT ARE YOUR FEARS??????

Image
I've been wanting to do this for a while but my bad is that sometimes, I procrastinate. Now, straight to the question; 'What is/are your fear(s) ?'  I read sometimes ago that the meaning of the acronym F.E.A.R is False Evidence Appearing real.      You know, there are a lot of things one   can be afraid of, fear of growing old and less beautiful, fear of not being loved, fear of a bad marriage, fear of failure in life, especially career, fear of being alone and lonely, fear of not being heard, a whole lot and your fears might actually not be my fears.    Well, I discovered that most times, our fears actually originate from what our desires or what we aim to achieve or maintain. For example, a beauty queen might fear to grow old and less beautiful, a person who aims to be very successful might fear to fail or even be a mediocre... Often times, some of these fears are even inspired by real experiences which could have been really bad. If that's the case, I'm

BLACKBERRY (BB) FOR BEAUTY.

Image
Okay, honestly, for the first time in my life I saw the blackberry fruit in camp (Jos) and with smiles I tasted it and I liked it. Well not because it tasted so sweet but I just loved it. Then, my interest in the fruit got me searching for it's health and of course beauty benefits, I wasn't disappointed with the results. We all should stay beautiful and real beauty should be inside-out. Here are some of the blackberry fruit's benefits: • Weight-Loss Winners: Blackberries are low in calories and high in nutrition, so they're an excellent part of any weight- loss strategy. • Amazing Antioxidants: Blackberries have some of the highest antioxidant levels of any fruit. The antioxidants in blackberries may help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer, and they could also help fight the signs of aging. • Brain-Boosting Benefits: When it comes to keeping your brain healthy, eating blackberries is a smart move. SKIN PALAVA

Image
It's been about six days in the coldest region of the coldest part of Nigeria (Mangu, Plateau State). The Plateau is cold, Mangu is really cold. And when you have to wake up as early as 4 a.m to have your bath, that is can be really discomforting, so, it is so typical to resort to using warm water. Let me also add that the more available water over here is the hard water.      I pleasured in the comfort of the warm water on my skin daily, forgetting the consequences of the warm hard water on my skin. Then, just two days ago, I felt and saw how dry and cracked my skin was, it was saddening. Not only that, my face was also affected as it not only got dry but also rough with pimples and few black heads.    I got worried for a while for the love of my skin, especially my face and then I remembered some of the consequences of the constant use of warm water and hard water on the skin which are: 1.  Dry skin is one of the most common problems of prolonged exposure of hard water

YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW I GOT THIS BEAUTIFUL??? ~ Jhummieooz

Image
It is not surprising that I didn't used to like the way I look. I wanted to be a beauty queen and, when I began to understand that if God had done a beautiful job by creating me, then who was I not to be beautiful. So I decided that: 1. I was going to always SMILE like there are cameras around me ready to take cover shots. 2. I was going to live like I have NO WORRIES but I've got great plans. 3. I was going to SPEND more TIME DOING things that make me HAPPY and VALUABLE. 4. I was going to TAKE CARE OF my skin, hair, body and even teeth. 5. I was going to WALK and STAND TALL like I was on the runway. 6. I was going to be KIND and treat everyone around me with RESPECT and LOVE. 7. I was going to APPRECIATE GOD ALWAYS for making me beautiful. 8. I was going to THINK OF EVERYONE around me as beautiful and I'm not less. 9. I was just going to be BEAUTIFUL.                                  ~Jhummieooz

AMAZING MODEL AT 83!!!

Image
A MODEL AT 83!!! (Carmel Dell' Orefice)    I was amazed at the tale of this beauty . She is what I like to term ' a beauty icon' because, having gone through her story, I found out that in her many years on earth, she has gone through extreme hardship, heartbreaks, emotional distress, trauma and a whole lot. Those experiences were not enough to break her yet, rather, she has broken the expectations of ageing and beauty. It is commonly said that beauty fades but lo, this beauty thrives as the length of time. At 83, a model, still standing tall is spectacular and should be celebrated.    Her advice for models out there : 'The smartest, with a good education and some good moral support from family and mentors, will not fall into booby-traps.' Words from her: 'If you don’t like watery spinach learn to braise it yourself or eat it raw,' . 'That is the creativity of living.' “ If I die,” she declares, “it will be with my high heels on.” '

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

'The quality of our lives are based on what we think'. We are a reflection of our daily thoughts, so I ask, what do you think? What do you even think of yourself, your future or those around? 'As man thinks in his heart, so is he'. Enough of the negative thoughts and on with the positive... Whatever is true, pure, holy, edifying and BEAUTIFUL are what you should think upon. I think you are beautiful, so are you!

IF I WERE A FLOWER~ Jhummieooz

Image
IF I WERE A FLOWER Walking past the beautiful flowers... Surrounded by beauty for the eyes to behold... Taking in the pure air that makes all feel right... Closing my eyes to get a clear inner picture of the creations that surround me... I let out a smile that comes from within, I want to have them close to me, I thought. Everything feels right, it just does. The beautiful colours of the flowers, How the birds rejoice at the sight of these beauties. The leaves, they swing to the whispers of the gentle breeze... If I were a flower, a beautiful one Rising in the morning at the call of the sun Responding to the invitation of the coolness of the dew Dancing to the sweet melodies from the birds Beautiful to behold, as the Cedar of Lebanon Sweet scents like the olive tree, capturing the spirit of man... To be continued...

CONTINUATION OF FASHION BASICS...

... 5. Simplicity Is Best: Staying simple is usually the best way to go. This goes for both makeup and wardrobe items. When in doubt, keep the accessories to a minimum and use timeless, classic fashion styles, such as a black dress with red pumps. When wearing makeup, you should use only enough to highlight the best features of your face; cheekbones, lips, or eyes, for example. 6. Don’t Break the Bank: You don’t have to buy the most expensive items to be fashionable. Less expensive items can work just as well, especially if they play toward your strengths. 7. Take Note of Fashion Trends: You should keep your eyes on the latest fashion trends. That said, you should only adopt those styles that match their body type and personality. If the latest fashions do not look good on you and accentuate your strong points, it doesn’t matter if those fashions are in style or not. Read magazines such as Allure, ELLE, and Fashion Magazine to keep up on the latest styles. This allows you to keep up

WATER, A CURE FOR DANDRUFF!

For about six years before now, I struggled with dandruff on my hair. I tried several means just to cure this hair ailment but to no avail. I did the two-week interval washing, I used several kinds of antidandruff treatment, at a point I even thought it was something that should be dealt with internally and I had to use antibiotics and herbs, still the dandruff persisted. It got so frustrating that I almost took it as a fate because each time I applied oil, my scalp got dried almost immediately making it seem like I never applied cream or oil for days. I changed shampoos, hair creams and treatments, I used shea butter, olive oil, EVO, and even all combined, I remember a friend calling me 'danddy' because that name sounded like an abbreviation for dandruff, plus the dandruff usually caused a painful scalp for me. Finally, thank God for my friend, Angela who made me understand.that dryness is not necessarily caused by lack of oil but more importantly, lack of water and so, she
